Exploratory Sketches

I began sketching shapes— exploring how to expand upon truly historical silhouettes. How might I re-shape trims, use period undergarments, extend or contract elements to tell this story?

At one point I started exploring a possible cabaret style. . . but returned to the comic text in the end.
